-Hood River, Oregon: Sorensen Construction Inc. – Design/Build
-Construction of park bathrooms

The Project was completed in the Summer of 2009. With the help of many local contractors and vendors, Sorensen Construction, Inc and Common Energy LLC were able to provide the Hood River Waterfront Park with the first “zero net” structure of it’s kind.
Highlights to the project:

-aesthetically complimentary design to the park area.
-timber framed roof structure.
-stucco exterior.
-standing seam metal roof.
-1.8 KW solar system on top of roof.
-waterless urinals

The Waterfront Park Bathroom Project exemplifies the spirit of the community of the Hood River and surrounding areas. Through great effort and determination, the implementation of the plan to have a park developed on “Lot 6” down by the Columbia River, came to fruition. It was a fabulous project that morphed in to an education center for those interested in Renewable Energy. The park currently makes more energy than it consumes. The North side is adorned with artwork produced by a local elementary school. The building was built with a level of structural integrity that will last for many generations to come.
