Rocky Ridge Court Residence

-Hood River, Oregon Design/Build
-Approximately 2200 square feet
-AAC Block Construction

Project started in the Fall of 2008 and was completed in the Fall of 2009. The house was designed by Sorensen Construction, Inc. and the clients. The house was built on a treed lot on the West side of Hood River. The house is extremely efficient for the following reasons:

-Insulated blocks stacked on the concrete footing to the roof assembly.
-Manufactured trusses over second story with spray on foam for sealed envelope.
-Insulated slab on grade on the first floor.
-Hydronic heat throughout.
-Hydronic heat and domestic heat sources: Electric On Demand.
-Pigmented plaster interior, Stucco exterior.
-All finish wood is recycled salvage material.
-2 Living Roofs: East and West sides
-Solar Hot Water System
-Rainwater Catchment System

The Rocky Ridge Court Residence is quite unique having the first living roof on a Hood River residence (that we know of). The house utilizes an extremely efficient wood burning stove to heat the house, using the hydronic heat as backup. The house is intimate and warm due to the layout and efficiency of the structure. The landscaping is drought resistant. We consider this one of our favorite projects due to the owner’s commitment to building with efficiency and quality in mind with every aspect of the construction.
