Riverside Drive Residence

-Hood River, Oregon Design/Build
-Approximately 2500 square feet
-Cempo Block Construction

Project started in the Spring of 2006 and was completed in the Spring of 2007. The house was designed by Sorensen Construction, Inc. and the owners. The house rests on a beautiful property in between the Dee Highway and the Hood River. The house is extremely efficient for the following reasons:

-Insulated blocks stacked on the concrete footing to the roof assembly.
-Site built trusses with Structurally Insulated panels over single story.
-Manufactured trusses over second story with spray on foam for sealed envelope.
-Windows to the South have high Solar Gain Coefficient for maximum heat gain.
-Insulated slab on grade on the first floor.
-Insulated slab on framing on the second floor.
-Hydronic heat throughout.
-Hydronic heat and domestic heat sources: All electric open loop system
-Solar Hot Water system to boost infloor heat and domestic hot water storage

Once again we found ourselves designing a house on a stellar property. The parcel required the house to be linear to the East and West taking advantage of passive solar heat gain. The property gently rolls to the North to Hood River. The constant movement of the river creates quite a serene environment. The design of the house is quite simple, living area to the West and sleeping areas to the East. The house’s exterior is veneered with pigmented stucco requiring no maintenance for the life of the home. We are very pleased with the Riverside residence.
